As living embodiments of this Sacred Feminine, models bring as much to the creative process as I do. I want to discover and celebrate the unique and genuine nature of every model I work with. – Todd F. Jerde

When I consider my biggest influences…

I immediately think of the women in my life, especially my wife. Women have taught me to learn from the perspectives of others, and have showed me that tenderness is a strength, rather than a weakness. Thanks to these lessons, I’m inspired by the power I perceive, hidden within what some see as frailty.

Women have become a primary subject of art because – quite honestly – I am in awe of them. Through my work, I want people to experience the divinity that I see in women. I want people to look at my work and feel a connection between themselves and the spirit that I respectfully refer to as ‘The Sacred Feminine’.

As living embodiments of this Sacred Feminine…

… models bring as much to the creative process as I do. I want to discover and celebrate the unique and genuine nature of every model I work with. I believe we all have a secret self, a ‘divine identity’ that is rarely seen or recognized, but under the right conditions it reveals itself.

This process of working with models has transformed the way I relate to beauty. I had been trained to think of beauty as somehow limited. Making art and working with these remarkable people, have given me the gift of now seeing beauty as endlessly diverse.

There is beauty in a rose fully bloomed…

… yet it is also beautiful as the petals eventually fall. The part of us that quietly knows our divinity, allows us to recognize the full spectrum. In my humble opinion, the human figure represents a perfect balance of nature and divinity. I strive to show that balance in the imagery I create.

Beauty is where divinity and nature meet.
