Phtographer, Donna Feldman Lasky and nude model, Jenna Kellen have forged a unique creative relationship that transcends the usual roles of artist and subject. Just as great dancers merge into ‘the dance’, Donna and Kellen seem to collaborate as a single creative impulse. As the muse, Kellen morphs into a broad range of incarnations, while Donna’s passion leads them into ever deepening exploration. As I look over this amazing body of work I get the sense that they are on an adventure, eagerly seeking to discover uncharted territory.
The moment Jenna removes her clothes and I pick up my camera, the ideas begin to flow and we hit it every time. We both go deep into a zone and remain there until we can’t go any longer.
Like an actress with an inspired director, they capture a full range of emotions and attitudes. While their images are sometimes mysterious and somber, other times they are bold, wild and robust. There is a raw spontaneous physicality in their work that suggests they are seeking to express something deep and profound. Donna manages to capture aspects of Kellen that are primal and larger than life, so that she seems to escape the bounds of every day human emotion. Sometimes it’s as if this unique collaboration enables the model’s spirit to transform into an animal or mythological creature.
Jenna Kellen is my muse. From our very first shoot, she was like clay to me. I can literally make anything with her. I’ve shot with hundreds of incredible models both experienced and green, but shooting Kellen is like coming home.
Just as a child takes on the traits of both parents, these works of art, take on the traits of both creators. There is a very special and powerful genetic signature woven into every single image that Donna Feldman Lasky and Jenna Kellen have created together. As they explore new creative landscapes with each other, they take us on that journey and bring back images as souvenirs from the exotic and beautiful places they have been.
Looking at these exquisite figure studies, I am blown away by the elegance and unified harmony of the human body. Kellen’s raw unfiltered presence, along with Donna’s passion for the female form, come together in a collaboration that will stop you in your tracks. Their art brings nude modeling to a new level. It can make you forget whatever is on your mind, so that you simply marvel at the human form and experience a nude model as you have before.
The creative dance of Donna Feldman Lasky and Jenna Kellen is completed by you and me, as we enjoy, interpret and experience these images for ourselves. This amazing art is an example of the beauty that can emerge when people work together towards a common goal, and become a part of something larger than a separate self. They show us what is possible when we truly love beauty and work together to create it in our lives.
Our creative process is a true collaboration. Whether in the studio or on location, we inspire each other and always make magic together. The more we shoot together, the closer we have become. I find immense beauty and take much pride in watching our work evolve and grow.
