Crimson Reign - Interview

What is beauty?

In my opinion, beauty is more than just looks. It’s the essence of someone or something that touches another person so much, that it feeds the senses and nourishes the soul.

What do you want people to experience when they look at your work?

I want people to experience my definition of beauty when they view my work.  I want people to open their minds enough to realize that the human body is a work of art sculpted by the hand of God, and should not only be viewed in a sexual manner.

Is there a particular moment you could share when you felt this the most? When I did my first art nude shoot with the late Jerry Harke. It was like he introduced me to another version of myself. I am always looking for that type of high whenever I do a shoot.

How is it that you want to be seen as a woman and as a model?

As a woman, I want to be viewed as resilient, funny, intelligent, and respectable. I want to be viewed in the same way as a model as well as creative, reliable, multifaceted, and timeless. I also take pride in the fact that I am still learning and will always try to improve with every shoot. Once I feel that I have no more to learn, then the time has come for me to step down and bow out gracefully.

I understand that you have had Lupus for 20 years and yet here you are shining. How do you see yourself as a survivor and what would you like for our readers to know, especially as inspiration?

I must say that I am one of the fortunate ones.  I found modeling at a time when I was placed on disability from a condition that arose due to the disease and treatment for it.  In spite of the aches, pains, fatigue, swelling, weight fluctuations, and other complications that come with the disease and treatment, my passion and determination to create has given me the drive I need to continue posing for shoots and some art classes. Example…  I was just in the hospital for a brief stay 2 weeks ago, and a few of the images in my port were shot 5 days after my release.  I still have to listen to my body and be a little more diligent than I have been about my doctor visits, especially since I am over 40 years old. For anyone who may be in a similar situation, I would tell them not to allow anything stand in the way of their heart’s desire. When obstacles come, don’t fail because of them…succeed in spite of them. Anything worth having is worth going through the trouble to get.
