Nude Fantasy
Sylph Sia by Robert Coppa
The project came about after meeting model Sylph Sia. I had shot fashion with her but had not done a nudes project. Given her looks and stature I always envisaged doing a concept that revolved around fantasy.
Sylph is so sweet a person that it was easy to position her persona into the project. Aseelie is a Dryad in charge of caring and nurturing Darkwood forest. I enlisted the help of Laurance De B Anderson to write a poem based on the images and the concept behind the shoot.
Aseelie’s Poem
“Aseelie Dryad, Protectress, walks silence of the Dark Wood,
her white feet on the quiet of many years.
All creatures know this silver gleam approaching.
Her thoughts weave temples of power in the still air,
round every branch, between each root and seed.
Merging with each tree to feel its quickening pulse,
she moves in circles rippling out from her great central pine, never tiring, always strong.
The next step was to engage with one of the best makeup artist in my hometown. I explained the concept and Mary jumped in head first. We developed the makeup look and we were off to shoot in a pine plantation that is close to where I live. The geometry of the trees gave the images a sense of depth and grandeur. We loved making The Aseelie Dryad of Darkwood, I hope you enjoy it too !!!
